  WEDDING TIMELINE

A year before the wedding is the best time to begin planning. Our hope is that you can use the checklist to keep you organized and having fun!

12-18 months away from the wedding, you should:

-Decide on your wedding date. Make an appointment with your clergyman or officiant.
-Get a budget outline and be sure that everyone agrees with how much can be spent.
-Assemble your wedding guest list.
-Decide on the entertainment for your ceremony and reception and book it!
-Pick a reception venue and make the necessary reservations.

8-10 months before the wedding:

-Shop for your wedding dress and veil. Remember that these will take a couple of fittings before it is all said and done with!
-Let your bridesmaids know that they will be an intracal part of your wedding.
-Gift Registry at your favorite stores.
-Hire a photographer, be sure to let him/her know of the location of any of the functions you want to be photographed.
-Pick a honeymoon destination and check all documents required for travel such as passport. -Decide on a color scheme for your wedding.

6-8 months before the wedding:

-Order your invitations, announcements, personal stationery and thank you notes.
-Finalize your guest list. Make sure that all families are ok with all invites and that no one is forgotten!
-Consult with a florist and be sure to match with your color scheme.
-Pick and set the date to order bridesmaids¹ dresses and any other attendants.
-Arrange all transportation for the wedding party and special guests.
-Set plans and make the appropriate reservations for the rehearsal dinner.

3-6 months before the wedding:

-Arrange formal wear for groom and groomsmen.
-Make an appointment for your bridal portrait.
-Confirm the delivery date of your gown.
-Order your wedding cake if not already included with your reception caterer.
-Inform your clergyman or officiant of all the details of your ceremony.
-Reserve any rental equipment needed.
-Make a plan for wedding day hair and make-up.
-Consult with a videographer if interested in filming the wedding.
-Go over all details of your reception with the caterer or hotel manager.

1 month before the wedding:

-Mail the invitations!
-Have the final fitting for your gown and confirm the date for your bridal portrait.
-Select and order gifts for the attendants. Bridesmaids usually receive the same gift. For the maid or matron of honor get something a little more special.
-Choose wedding bands.
-Make room reservations for out-of-town guests.
-Discuss plans for the rehearsal dinner with the hosts.

2 weeks before the wedding:

-Fill out the necessary forms for your marriage license.
-Plan with your hairdresser for a wedding hair-do. Make sure to bring your headpiece and veil. Confirm an appointment for your hair to be done the day of the wedding.
-If you¹re changing your name arrange to change your name and address on official documents such as drivers license, bank accounts, insurance and health policies, etc.
-Deliver your wedding announcement to the local paper¹s society editor.

1 week before the wedding:

-Start your honeymoon packing.
-Schedule your rehearsal for one or two days before the wedding.
-Let your wedding party know of all rehearsal details.
-Confirm guest count with the caterer at the reception venue.
-Wrap gifts to your attendants and bridesmaids¹ party.
-Relax, all your wedding dreams are about to come true.
